ISLAMABAD-
The petition filed by Government of Pakistan against Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) decision to reinstate Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf as the chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was withdrawn on Friday, a private news channel reported.
On January 24, advocate Asman Jehangir filed an appeal challenging IHC’s ruling of January 14, 2014 that suspended the government’s ordered appointment of columnist Najam Sethi as the acting chairman of PCB.
Sethi was appointed as the PCB head when the IHC suspended Zaka from the PBC chairmanship on 28 May, 2013.
On July 4, IHC also declared Zaka’s appointment by PCB Board of Governors as illegal.
On Jan 16 this year the IHC reinstated Zaka Ashraf as PCB chairman.
