CIIT, PEEF join hands for ‘meritorious students’

COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) and Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF) Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) under which scholarships would be awarded to meritorious students to peruse graduation level education.

The signing ceremony was held Thursday at CIIT, on the occasion of scholarship and cheque disbursement among the needy but talented students.

Speaking on the occasion, PEEF Director Administration Ansar Nawaz Chatha said PEEF will award 28,000 scholarships to meritorious and needy students in a period of five years.

“Out of these allocated scholarships, 27,500 would be awarded to female students of 11 selected districts of Punjab for intermediate level education.”

The selected districts include Chiniot, Bhakkar, Layyah, Vehari, Muzaffargarh, Lodhran, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Bahawalnagar and Rahimyar Khan.

He said the remaining 5,00 scholarships would be awarded to needy students through partner centres of excellence, including COMSATS Lahore, COMSATS Islamabad and NUST Islamabad. PEEF would award 7,750 scholarships during the current year (2013-14), he added.
