Hundreds of trees were gutted when fire broke out in the forests beside Murree Expressway late Tuesday night.
Wildlife of the forest was also affected by the blaze. The smoke rising from the fire could be seen from miles away even on Wednesday and trees and other greenery in almost one kilometer square area was completely burnt.
According to residents, the sub divisional forest officer and other officials of the Forest Department were informed immediately when they saw the blaze but the department failed to control the fire throughout the night.
