Wheat flour dealers and retailers have started selling flour at exorbitant rate owing to lack of check and balance system on the part of Rawalpindi Food Department.
The flour bag of 20 kilogrammes is being sold out at higher rate by Rs 130 than the rate fixed by Rawalpindi DCO.
Sources said that the DCO has fixed ex-mill rate Rs 765 per 20-kg flour bag and retail price Rs 785. But the shop keepers, flour dealers and retailers are selling flour bag of 20 kilogrammes at the rate ranging between Rs 900 and Rs 920.
Flour dealers and retailers have held flour mills owners responsible for ever increasing prices of flour as they are providing flour at the cost of Rs 770 per 20 kilogram bag under the pretext of carriage charges. The citizens have demanded crackdown against the flour dealers and retailers found involved in money minting by selling the flour at higher rate.
