UNITED NATIONS-

Pakistan U.N. Ambassador Masood Khan has thanked Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon for lauding the services of Mrs. Nasreen Khan, a Pakistani working with UNICEF, who was among the 21 people killed in a terrorist attack in Kabul on Jan. 17. In a letter to the Pakistani envoy, the UN chief described Mrs. Khan, a respected specialist in reproductive health, as a “hero”, saying she was a dedicated staff member. Acknowledging the secretary-general’s letter, Masood Khan said Ban’s tributes to Mrs. Nasreen Khan would “reassuring and soothing” to the members of her family and the people of Pakistan. He agreed with the secretary-general that the dastardly acts of terrorism will not deter “our commitment to work with the people of Afghanistan.”
