Women university to be established in capital next year, says Ahsan Iqbal
Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal said on Tuesday that the government has planned to establish a women university next year.
“The government will choose one of the best performing model colleges for girls in Islamabad which will be upgraded to the status of WomenUniversity,” Iqbal said while addressing an inaugural session of a debate competition at IslamabadModelCollege for Girls F-7/2.
He said that there was dire need of establishing a women university for boosting educational activities among women in the federal capital. He said Pakistan’s youth are future of the country and they should work hard for socio-economic development of the country. He said Pakistan was among those 12 countries in the world where maximum number of children do not go to school.
The government is endeavouring on every level to enhance country’s literacy rate, he said, adding that according to the government’s Vision 2050, when Pakistan will turn 100 years, the country would be among top ten developed countries in the world.
The minister said the government was not only providing educational tools like laptops and loans to the students but also it was promoting extra-curricular activities among them.
