Fisheries Department of Sindh announced to launch Benazir Fisheries Welfare Support Program (BFWSP) for providing financial assistance and other livelihood facilities for fishermen in the province.
Sindh Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Jam Khan Shoro stated this while addressing the gathering of fishermen on the occasion of distribution ceremony of Rs 11 million worth equipments among them at Golarchi in Badin District.
“Through this programme, the government of Sindh will provide latest boats, nets and other equipments related to the profession of fisheries to the fishermen in Sindh,” he said. Besides, other things related to their basic needs including education and health facilities would also be provided to them for enhancing their living standard, he added. Apart from this, modern hospital and school would be established at zero point of district Badin, he said.
The minister said that modern model village would be constructed at Manchhar for fishermen and the construction work of model villages is in progress at Kenjhar, Keti Bundar and Zero Point for fishermen and soon it would be completed to hand over the houses to fishermen there.
Besides opening new schools for children of Fishermen in the province, free uniforms and free books would be provided to their children, he said. Shoro said that Fisheries was significant source of income in the province and the sector should be encouraged by providing all facilities which would ultimately enhance the revenue generation in the province.

PPP Leader and Sindh-born Bilwal Bhutto Zardari challenged the terrorists and it had proved that PPP would not compromise on the rights of people, the minister said. Parliamentary Secretary of Health Department Dr Sikandar Shoro, MNA Kamal Khan Chang and MPA Sania Baloch were present on the occasion.
