US to focus on trade with Pakistan: envoy

Consul General of United States of America at Karachi Michael J Dodman said that his country was cooperating in health, education, energy and other sectors in Pakistan.

In future, the emphasis would be given to trade along with aid and strengthening US-Pakistan relations, he said while speaking at a luncheon meeting hosted by Rashid Ahmed Siddiqui , Chairman Afeef Group.

On this occasion, Patron-in-Chief of KATI, SM Muneer, President All Karachi Industrial Alliance , Mian Zahid Hussain and President KATI Syed Farukh Mazhar spoke. Former vice president FPCCI Zubair Tufail , immediate past chairman of KATI Mohammad Zubair Chhaya, Shujaat Ali Baig and others were present, said a release here on Monday.

Michael J Dodman said that United States is taking every step for overcoming the energy crises of Pakistan and steps are being taken to improve education sector in Pakistan. SM Muneer said the US instead of providing aid should help in promoting our trade and industry. He said that access to American markets may be provided to Pakistani businessmen so that bilateral trade between the countries can be increased.

President of All Karachi Industrial Alliance, Mian Zahid Hussain called for exchange of trade delegations for increasing bilateral trade and investment between both the countries. Rashid Ahmed Siddiqui appreciated the steps taken by Michael J. Dodman, Consul General of USA for improving the relations between America and Pakistan.

President of KATI, Syed Farukh Mazhar said that relations between United States and Pakistan are much better than before and process of investment in different sectors in Pakistan should be speed up. He said that American Investors could get advantage of vast opportunities of investments in Pakistan and this can be made through joint ventures.
