The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) resumed hearing of the 35 missing persons’ case on Monday where Justice Jawwad S Khawaja remarked that Protection of Pakistan Ordinance (PPO) will be evaluated in accordance with the law.
A three-judge bench of the SC headed by Justice Jawwad S Khawaja was hearing the missing persons’ case.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Advocate General (AG) Abdul Latif Yusufzai presented his arguments and said that an ordinance pertaining to the missing persons has been presented. Justice Jawwad S Khawaja remarked that the court will evaluate the said ordinance in the light of law.
Jusice Jawwad said that federal government is responsible for legislation, and questioned what steps have been taken by the KP government in this regard.
AG said that it was in the knowledge of the court that 35 persons were taken away by the military.
On this, Justice Jawwad remarked that it was the responsibility of the provincial government to raise the matter with the Defence Ministry.
