Islamabad police in wee hours on Sunday conducted a massive search operation in the area of Sabzi Mandi police station and nabbed a total of 375 suspects including 200 Afghans residing in the city and ten target offenders.

According to details, 400 policemen, 12 SHOs, four Sub-Divisional Police officers under the supervision of SSP Islamabad Muhammad Rizwan cordoned off the Sabzi Mandi area and conducted search operation there.

Police teams arrested 175 suspects having no authentic documents with them and 200 Afghans whose record would be further verified to know whether their stay was legal or not.

Islamabad police have devised a comprehensive plan for search and combing operation in Afghan and slum areas of the city to arrest suspects and those illegally staying in the city.

This plan has been chalked out following the directions from Inspector General of Police Islamabad Sikandar Hayat. The main purpose of this operation is to arrest suspects and criminal elements staying in these areas.

Police teams headed by SSP Islamabad Muhammad Rizwan including four SDPOs, 12 SHOs, police Commandos and 400 policemen conducted search operation in Sabzi Mandi area and apprehended the suspects.

SSP Islamabad Muhammad Rizwan has said that Afghan cards of nabbed suspects would be verified and their mobile phones record would be obtained.

He said Islamabad police is using latest technology to trace the links of such suspects with criminal elements, dacoits or car lifters if any.

He said the search operation would continue. The SSP also directed all heads of police stations to continue the operation and ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens besides ensuring arrest of mischievous elements.
