Karachi Police Chief Shahid Hayat on Sunday said ‘the jihad’ in the city would continue until the last remaining criminal is arrested.

Talking to media, Shahid Hayat said that the police would not be demoralised as they have worn uniform and they believe in rendering sacrifices.

“Police chase criminals and sometimes criminals attack police personnel, which can not affect the morale and spirit of the police,” he said.

The city police chief further said that several criminals released on parole have fled the country. “We will try to have red warrants issued for such criminals.”

Shahid Hayat said that 500 retired officers of Pakistan army have joined police force while 600 more personnel would join soon.

The Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah has approved 400 personnel for anti-encroachment cell, he added.

He said that 90 suspects have been taken into custody following the Landhi incident that left six police personnel dead on Saturday night. He said that the suspects are being interrogated.
