A comprehensive security plan for the Sindh Festival to be organised by the provincial culture and tourism department from February 1 to 5, has been finalised.
In a report presented to Inspector General Police Shahid Nadeem Baloch, it was told that all necessary arrangements for the festival had been completed, said a handout issued here on Sunday.
The IGP was informed that the effective measures for intelligence collection and sharing will also be taken by the law enforcement agencies at the programme venues in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Mirpurkhas and Larkana.
The cooperation of volunteers will also be acquired for the identification of suspicious persons around the festival sites. It was informed that the parking lots for the people participating in the festival will also be set up at a distance and strict vigilance of parking sites will also be ensured. The report further stated that the strict targeted actions, random snap checking and patrolling will also be conducted in sensitive areas at police station level.
The IGP after reviewing the report directed the officials to increase intelligence and technical sweeping and clearance around the festival venues. He also directed that police personnel in plain clothes should be deployed, besides installation of surveillance cameras on the festival’s locations.
