In a tit for tat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Information Minister Shah Farman raided the residence of Peshwar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) chief on Sunday alleging that he was involved in having illegal connections and theft of electricity.
The provincial information minister was accompanied by government officials and the media team. He said PESCO officials were themselves involved in power-theft while the federal Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali was backing the PESCO chief.
Earlier, Abid Sher Ali had threatened to cut off the electricity supply of Shah Farman’s constituency because on the basis of “massive theft of electricity in the area and non-payment of power bills”.
Political observers and media analysts say that the action of the provincial information minister will lead to a new cold war between the Centre and the KPK.
