Funeral prayers of the six policemen martyred on duty in Landhi were offered at Garden Police Headquarters on Sunday.
Provincial Minister for Information and Local Government Sharjeel Inam Memon, Additional Chief Secretary Home Department Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah, IG Sindh Police Shahid Nadeem Baloch, besides other senior police officials, jawans, and a large number of relatives and friends of the martyred policemen participated in the Namaz-e-Janaza.
Six police officials Assistant Sub-Inspectors Naeem, Javed, Head Constable Asim, and Constables Muhammad Asif and Fida Hussain had been martyred in a hand grenade attack and firing at two police vans in Landhi-6 area on Saturday night.
The IGP offered condolences with the bereaved families of the martyred police officials. He also expressed tributes to the martyred police officers and jawans for their services to the Police Department.
He directed that all the operational and investigative measures should be boosted for the arrest of culprits involved in the attacks on police pesonnel.
Shahid Baloch said that criminal elements do not deserve any leniency and targeted operation should be further accelerated against such elements after strengthening intelligence units at the police station level. He said that terrorist incidents cannot weaken the determination of police personnel.
