Awami National Party (ANP) head Asfandyar Wali Khan Sunday called on the federal government to restore peace in the country by negotiation or by conductin of operation.
“We need peace whether the government achieves it through negotiations or by launching a military operation,” Asfandyar said while addressing a public gathering in Charsadda on the death anniversary of his grandfather, Bacha Khan.
He said that the government was given a mandate to initiate peace talks with Taliban in the All Parties Conference (APC). The interior minister should tell the nation if he is going to hold talks with the militant groups or not.
Asfandyar questioned why the federal and KPK governments are confused about holding talks with the Taliban and asked why the other parties are not being taken onboard regarding the dialogue.
The ANP leader said it was responsibility of the provincial government to restore law and order in the province.
He said that the PTI should stage a sit-in at Karachi port to block NATO supplies, instead of point-scoring in Peshawar area.
Asfandyar was of the view that the situation in the country is getting out of control due to intensity in terrorist activities.
