Whose land is it anyway?

Encroachments, beggary going unchecked at Faizabad

The rampant encroachments, illegal parking and menace of professional beggary have turn Faizabad Bus Stand into total mess and a security threat due to negligence of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) Rawalpindi.

The land grabbers have encroached over vacant spaces and even footpaths in and around Faizabad bus stands, while illegal parking is further worsening the situation. Moreover, the local transporters do not follow the traffic rules and park their vehicles randomly on the roads.

Furthermore, the number of professional beggars has threateningly increased at Faizabad. They keep roaming in the area harassing the citizens to mint money from them. Some of them have also set up their posts on overhead bridge and footpaths.  The administration has no record of the beggars which is worrisome and may lead to any untoward incident in the twin cities. Citizens feared that some terrorists could hide themselves under the guise of a beggar and could target at appropriate time.

The cleanliness conditions are also very bad in the area and heaps of garbage can be seen everywhere. The shopkeepers and small stall owners dump their garbage on roadsides, while the sanitation workers do not clean the locality properly.

The situation is calling the attention of the higher officials of Islamabad and Rawalpindi administrations, but they seem to be in deep slumber.
