102 held in search operation

Police on Saturday arrested 102 suspects during search operation in Afghan habitats and other areas of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).

According to a police spokesman, the Islamabad Police have devised a joint security plan following the directives of IGP Sikandar Hayat and SSP Muhammad Rizwan and also decided to take elaborate measures for protecting the lives and property of citizens.

As per this security plan, teams of Rural, Saddar and Industrial Area zones headed by their respective SPs Muhammad Ilyas, Jameel  Hashmi, and Muhammad Hassan Iqbal conducted search operations in Afghan habitats, sectors I-1, I-11, Railway Line area, Sadaat Colony in Golra area, Pind Paracha and various localities in Shehzad Town. Heavy contingents of police along with commandoes, and bomb disposal squad participated in the operation, during which 102 suspects were nabbed.

The police also recovered 25 bottles of wine, narcotics, two pistols and a vehicle from suspects.

SSP Muhammad Rizwan, in a directive, asked for verifying Afghan cards and computerized national identity cards (CNICs) of the arrested suspects and also to get record of their mobile phones to know whether they have links with car lifters, dacoits and other criminal elements or not. These nabbed persons also included ten persons who have already criminal record.

The SSP said search operation would be conducted in other areas of Islamabad and no unauthorized person would be allowed to stay in the city illegally.

Meanwhile, police teams also raided two brothel houses and nabbed ten persons, including three women, for their alleged involvement in immoral activities.
