The state follows the same policy for capital punishment as inscribed in the holy Quran, said Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah.
He was speaking to Punjab Forensic Agency and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) police officials in an award ceremony.
He asserted that the government’s policy has been formulated as per Quranic injunctions, according to which capital offence deserved capital punishment. He also reiterated that the government would not be influenced by any pressure from non-governmental agencies.
The law minister also said that improving the efficacy of investigative system would result in eliciting truth from the suspects not though any physical torture but with the help of solid proves.
Moreover, he revealed, “In order to avoid threats to judges and witnesses, the government is relentless in devising suitable plan of action.” He said that identity of the judges announcing capital punishment would be kept secret for their security.
The minister also distributed awards among the police and forensic agency officials for completing three weeks of training in crime investigation. The training aimed at giving expertise to officials for gathering proof from the crime scene.
