Nawaz has not interfered in treason probe, says chief prosecutor

The special court formed for the trial of former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf on Thursday resumed the hearing of the treason case against Musharraf.
Headed by Justice Faisal Arab, the three-member bench of the court heard arguments of the chief prosecutor Akram Sheikh who said that the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had not interfered in the treason probe against Musharraf.
He said that the court had ordered to form investigating team comprising of honest persons and the investigating officer could appear before the bench if required.
Shiekh added that the constitution was implemented upon in the case.
Musharraf’s counsel, Anwar Mansoor, also presented his arguments over the constitution of the special court and the manner the case was registered against his client.
Mansoor said that the prime minister and his cabinet is defined as the government in the constitution, adding that authority of the administration is implemented through the federal cabinet and not the through the establishment division.
Mansoor said that the authority of cabinet cannot be assigned to a secretary under the light of the constitution which clearly defines the powers a secretary can be assigned.
