Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has said the government is committed to the process of disinvestment of heavy losses making the Public Sector Entities (PSEs) which would be carried out transparently and in an efficient manner in the national interest.
He made these observations during a briefing on the progress made so far by the Privatisation Commission at the Finance Ministry on Wednesday.
The minister said that the disinvestment of PSEs would be carried out preferably through strategic partnership and directed the commission to develop a strategy to balance the competing objectives of maximizing benefits to the country while ensuring the protection of rights of employees of PSEs.
Dar said that at present national and international capital markets are buoyant and the country must benefit from the present confidence of the investors in present government.
During the meeting, the commission briefed the minister about the decisions taken by the commission recently.
Privatisation Commission Chairman Zubair Umar assured the minister that all formalities would be adhered to and transparency would be its hallmark.
