Minister of Defence Production, Rana Tanveer on Wednesday termed Tuesday’s airstrikes by Pakistan Military as a retaliation to the attacks that targeted Army personnel in Bannu and Rawalpindi.
Talking to media reporters, he deferred the concept that an operation had been conducted in the north-western tribal areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and said that the airstrikes were conducted after a joint decision of the army and government to retaliate following the attacks on security forces in the earlier days.
“A decision to hold talks or take action will be made soon,” said Tanveer.
He said that six leading militant groups have been contacted by the government for dialogue, adding that presently 60 militant groups are operational that include foreign militants.
