United stand will enable us to achieve desired results, says PM

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Tuesday that the maintenance of law and order was the government’s top priority.

“A concerted effort and united stand will enable us to achieve the desired results,” the PM said while talking to a parliamentary delegation, comprising all political parties headed by Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch.

The delegation included Senator Mushahid Hussain, Senator Daud Khan, Senator Haji Adeel, Senator Abdul Rauf Lala, Senator Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Maulana Abdul Wasey and other members of the Balochistan Assembly and provincial leaders.

Malik assured the premier of his support on the government’s policy on terrorism.

“We are together against the terrorists and want to give a strong message to them through our unity,” he said.

He, moreover, asked the premier for assistance for the recovery of Awami National Party (ANP) leader Arbab Abdul Zahir Kansi from Balochistan.

“We want that the menace of kidnapping for ransom be eliminated from our province and need support of the federal government in this respect,” Malik said.

Nawaz expressed his deep concern over kidnappings for ransom and assured the delegation that he would take personal interest in the recovery of Arbab Abdul Zahir Kansi.

He also expressed concern over the abduction of the sons of former premier Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and late governor Salman Taseer and said he would direct all the heads of intelligence agencies to make concerted efforts to recover them soon.

The delegation appreciated the stance of prime minister against terrorism and reposed their confidence in his leadership.
