Government prosecutor Akram Shaikh resumed his arguments as the special court headed by Justice Faisal Arab heard the treason trial against former president Pervez Musharraf on Tuesday.

According to media reports, Chief Prosecutor Akram Shaikh contesting the defence counsel’s arguments said that the Federal Cabinet and the Federal Government are not synonyms. He said that any official of the federal government could comply with the directives of the prime minister.

He further argued that the probe of the case will not be investigated by the federal cabinet but the matter has to be dealt by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

The government counsel also argued that the prosecution was empowered to add more names in the accused list. It is the function of the prosecution and not the cabinet, the counsel said.

According to rules any official of the federal government could act on behalf of the president, but the prime minister supervises the action, he added.

  1. So go ahead and add more names, starting with ex-CJ Ifthikar Chaudhri, Mian Mohammad, Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif, Gen Kayani and lot others. Let us clean the entire stable. Why Nawaz Shari, because he is the main collaborator who induced the army to take over by acting in a foolish manner .

  2. This man is just as biased as the court itself. The prosecutor has to be a neutral person and not somebody on social terms with the Prime Minister. This entire case is making a mockery of the judiciary on international level.
