Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Saturday announced that the internal security policy has been formulated and it would be tabled for approval at a special session of the federal cabinet on Tuesday.
Talking to media, Khan said the policy aims to fortify the country by equipping the law enforcing agencies with latest technologies and equipment.
He lamented that in the past 13 year little had been done for strengthening law enforcement agencies, adding that the government would now assist the agencies by arming them with latest security gears.
Speaking about dialogue with the insurgent Taliban, Khan said that the government seeks to take all political parties on board over holding talks with the Taliban and will be contacting the part leader in this regard, adding that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif hopes to ensure that all parties play their roles in establishing peace.
The minister also said it was the provincial governments’ mandate to control the law and order situation in their respective domains.
