Sindh Inspector General (IG) Shahid Nadeem Baloch on Saturday took notice of an attack on a private television team that left three staff members dead.
According to his spokesman, Baloch has constituted a team to investigate the incident and submit a report to the IG immediately.
On Friday night, unknown militants attacked a vehicle of a private TV channel near board office intersection in Nazimabad. Three staff members, including the driver, a technician and a guard were killed in the attack.
Sindh Governor Dr. Ishratul Ebad, Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, MQM Chief Altaf Hussain condemned the attack on the media team. The CM directed the authorities to take stern action against the culprits.
Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan regional spokesperson Sajjad Mohmand claimed the responsibility for the attack in a phone call to a foreign news agency.
The same TV channel has been attacked twice in the last year. Several employees of the channel were injured in the attacks.
God be praised that "Taking Notice", and not "taking action" has come down from prime ministers and other big shots to IG Police and all the rest.
Taking notice, what does that even mean?
Are the law enforcing agencies and provincial Government not responsible for maintaining law and order to prevent such things from happening?
Taking notice after a violent event is just a cop out, an admission of incompetence and an admission of failure.
