The President of Pakistan People’s Party Punjab chapter Mian Manzoor Wattoo on Friday said the Punjab government is preventing the holding of local bodies elections in Punjab as Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif fears his party will lose in the polls.
Speaking at a press conference, Wattoo said the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) could hold LB elections in March by restoring old delimitations on the direction of the Lahore High Court but it has also become a companion of the Punjab rulers.
Wattoo said that the CM seeks to delay the polls so that his favoured judges could be appointed in the court to head cases over new delimitations.
Wattoo also said that PML-N was given the mandate in the May 11 general elections to eliminate terrorism from the country but it has failed to do so, adding that the provincial government is being run by Hamza Sharif instead of Shahbaz Sharif, who is busy running the federal government in place of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
