At least three people were killed and several others were injured when a car bomb exploded near a local government building in the Lebanese town of Hermel on Thursday, local media and residents said.
Hermel is in northern Bekaa Valley of Lebanon which borders with Syria. The site is widely known as a stronghold of the Shi’ite militant and political movement Hezbollah.
Images of a large cloud of smoke pouring up from a square and the twisted remains of a car were broadcasted by local news channels.
According to a national news agency and eye witnesses, three people were killed and 15 more were wounded.
Civil war in Syria has been increasingly affecting Lebanon, whose militant movement Hezbollah is actively involved in the Syrian conflict.
