The power shortfall in the country surged to 2,600 MW as the total generation on Thursday was recorded as 8,400 MW against the demand of 11,000 MW at 0900 hours.

According to daily data released by National Transmission and Dispatch Company Limited (NTDC), the hydel generation stood at 1,000 MW, Thermal 1,760 and Independent Power Producers (IPPs) 5,640 MW.

Domestic power load-shedding is being carried out due to reduction in Indus River System Authority (IRSA) indents during annual canal closure.

Meanwhile, 220 KV Guddu-Sibbi and Uch-Sibbi circuits tripped due to sabotage of two structures resulting 300 MW less electricity to Quetta Electric Supply Company.

  1. Power generation and distribution is of great importance to the infrastructure development of any country. Power shortage and distribution losses can have severe effects on the economy. It is high time for government officials and people to think about alternative power sources such as solar and wind so as to enable uninterrupted power. Check out this blog speaking about backup generator power http://www.theshockdoctors.ca/2014/01/backup-gene… which helped people in getting a continuous power while there was shortfall of power in Ontario.
