21 students among 25 killed in Nawabshah van-dumper collision

As many as 25 persons including 21 school students were killed and several others sustained serious wounds in collision between a school van and dumper on Wednesday.
Police said that the accident took place at Qazi Ahmed link-Road where a dumper rammed into a school van of students and teachers who were returning Doulatpur after taking part in a competition in Nawabshah.
As a result, the van was completely destroyed resulting in death of eight people including students and children on the spot and leaving several others critically injured.
The truck driver responsible for the accident managed to escape the scene.
The injured persons were shifted to Nawabshah People’s Medical College for medical treatment where several injured succumbed to their wounds raising the death-toll to 25. Hospital sources said that condition of injured people was also serious and it was feared that death toll could rise further.
Rescue and hospital sources said that the deceased students were aged between 10 to 16 years.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, President Mamnoon Hussain, MQM chief Altaf Hussain, PTI Chairman Imran Khan, PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, PPP leadership and others have expressed deep sense of grief and sorrow over the incident and condoled with the bereaved families.
Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah directed the authorities for facilitating the affected families, provided best possible treatment facilities to the injured and also summoned the report of the accident from the district administration.
A case has been registered into the incident and the police has initiated search for the dumper driver who fled away after the accident.
