Punjab government on the sidelines of the Punjab Youth Festival 2014 has planned to hold a youth convention to develop harmony and awareness towards education and learning for the progress of the country.
Provincial minister for sports, education and youth affairs RanaMashhood Ahmed Khan along with Director General Sports Board Punjab Usman Anwar chaired a meeting yesterday here at the conference hall of the National Hockey Stadium.
The participants of the meeting were brief about another vision of Chief Minister Mian M Shahbaz Sharif who wanted to make the province number one domain of literacy. He further stated that these events will be conducted from January 19 to March 5. “As a first step forward we will be holding a remarkable book fair during the Punjab Youth Festival which will not only be participated by Pakistani publishing houses but foreign publishers are also being invited to be part of the festivity.
“The conduct of this particular festival willnot only develop a habit of reading but it will also promote develop hunger for learning new language and literature,” he said and added: “Anotheractivity will also be part of this festival in which people of all walks of life and internationally famed poets and prose writers assemble to transfer their experience of writing.”
RanaMashhood further said that the youth convention which will also be held during the current year will look into the possibilities of development and securing the future of the youth. “In this convention youngsters of the province will be gathered at a place to find out ways and possibilities for the solution of the problems faced by the young generation.
“A selected lot of youngsters, apart from their cast or creed or regional divide, will be invited from whole of the country to mingle with each other and share their thoughts among themselves.”
He also praised the efforts of the youngsters in the development of the country and stated that it is the vision of Mian Shahbaz Shairf to see the youth, which is the future of country, flourish and progress because with their growth Pakistan will automatically develop.
“For the purpose the Punjab government is going for proper legislation to make education accessible for all and bring the children of the downtrodden to educational institutes,” he added.
The provincial minister further said that his government is also take measures to promote art and culture, film and theater alongside education so that the future of the country, which is the youth can display their skills to its maximum.
LAHORE (January 9, 2014): Amna Abdur Rauf of UC 75 and Haroon Shahzad of UC 19 qualified for the next round in the PYF 2014 healthy baby competitions here at Railway Carron Hospital.
In both the UCs, total 125 babies took part in the event where MS Carron Hospital Dr Ghulam Rasool Somro and District Population Welfare Officer Mazhar Iqbal were chief guests while TPO Abid Ali was also present.
In UC 75, Amna took first position while Maya was second and Zohaib was third. In UC 19 event, Haroon Shahzad won first position while Hadia Nasir was second and Muskan Mehroz was third. At the end, the chief guests distributed prizes among the winners.
