National Database Regulatory Authority Chairman Tariq Malik has resigned from his post and sent the resignation letter to the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday.
According to sources, he resigned from his post citing personal reasons, however, in his resignation he stated that he is resigning keeping in view the larger interests of the institution. Furthermore, he also mentioned that he is leaving the institution in profitable condition.
He also said that he always worked with integrity and honesty and all allegations against him are politically motivated.
The sources said Malik sent his resignation to the Interior Ministry following a meeting with secretary of the ministry.
It is interesting to note that the federal government in early December unceremoniously removed Malik from his post.
Upon his sudden removal, Malik approached the Islamabad High Court (IHC) which in turn suspended the notification about his sacking on December 3, 2013.
The case is still pending with the court. However, Malik has now decided to step down.
