An accountability court on Friday extended the physical remand of the weapons scam case accused former Inspector General (IG) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police Malik Naveed for five days to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), a private news channel reported.
Naveed was presented before Accountability Court’s Judge Wilayat Ali Shah Gandapur who gave an extension in the former police chief’s remand to NAB.
Naveed was arrested by the NAB on November 20 on charges of receiving kickbacks in the multi-billion rupees procurement of weapons, equipment and vehicles for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police department.
On Tuesday, NAB officials made new arrests of Niaz Ali Shah and Raza Ali Khan in relation to the weapon scam case. Shah has been a close aide of the former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti while Khan is the brother-in-law of Ghazan Hoti, a brother of the former CM.
