The funeral prayers of CID SP Chaudhry Aslam will be held today at PoliceHeadquartersGarden after the Asar prayers today.
Strict security arrangements have been made for the funeral prayers. Politicians and top police officials are expected to attend the prayers.
SUICIDE ATTACK:
Head of the investigating team tasked to probe the fatal attack on CID SP Chaudhry Aslam on Thursday; DIG Zafar Bukhari has confirmed that it was a suicide attack.
Around 200 kilogrammes of explosives were used in the suicide attack. The Sindh IG had previously said that at least 20-25 kilograms of explosives were used in the blast.
Earlier, it was reported that a pickup truck was used in the attack.
According to sources, parts of the truck and pieces of blue plastic cans were found at the crime scene. The explosive material was kept in blue cans on top of the pickup truck, the sources revealed.
The driver of a police mobile in Aslam’s squad confirmed that a pickup truck was used in the attack, the sources added.
FINGERPRINTED:
A couple of severed hands, believed to be of a suspected suicide bomber, who killed SP CID Chaudhry Aslam, have been fingerprinted.
According to Dr Afzal Memon, a thorough autopsy has been performed on the alleged suicide attacker’s blown apart remains, which were collected from the blast site.
“We received an explosion-burnt head, two hands, and a foot. The forensic experts have recorded the fingerprints”, Dr Memon said.
Further investigation is underway while the prints have been sent for matching, the sources said.
Chaudhry Aslam was martyred in a bomb attack at Lyari Expressway near Gulshan-e-Iqbal at 4.30 pm yesterday. Two other police officials Farhan and Kamran were also killed in the attack.
Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) had claimed responsibility for the attack.
