The law must take its course in regard to Pervez Musharraf in order to save the country from anarchy and to ensure the supremacy of the constitution and the law, said Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Syed Munawar Hasan in a statement issued on Wednesday.

He said that Pervez Musharraf was not suffering from any such ailment that could not be treated at home. Therefore, the government should not yield to any foreign or internal pressure in his case. He said that the societies that lacked justice and equality, could not survive.

The JI ameer said that Musharraf’s lawyers were insisting that their client could only be treated abroad. He said that at the beginning, attempts were made to prove that Pervez Musharraf’s life was in danger and bombs and ammunition were found close to his residence.

As the latest move, while he was being driven to the court for appearance in treason case, Pervez Musharraf was suddenly shifted to a hospital. If Pervez Musharraf was really sick, he must be treated within the country instead of being flown abroad on the pretext of sickness, he added.

Syed Munawar Hasan said that in order to ensure the supremacy of the constitution and rule of law as also to save the country from chaos, there must be uniform law for the low and the high, for the rich and the poor.

He said some voices were being raised now in Pervez Musharraf’s defense but there was no one to oppose the military dictator when he placed the country at the mercy of the US and opened the flood gates of terrorism.

Syed Munawar Hasan said if it was essential to bring to the law some others who had helped Pervez Musharraf in subverting the constitution, that too should not be avoided to ensure the supremacy of the constitution and the law.

  1. What a U turn these mullahs have taken? They enjoyed during Musharraf's tenure and now betraying him when he is being isolated and victomised being a Muhajir. This mulla should first straighten his own people who had made 80 thousand bogus ballot papers for last polling. They have defamed not only themselves, but Pakistan and Musalmans allover the world. Better they correct themselves then they have the right to comment on others.
