Federal Minister for Science and Technology Zahid Hamid said on Tuesday that Pakistan wanted to strengthen economic ties with Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H) by encouraging bilateral trade and investment.
The government desired to further expand the existing volume of trade and economic activities between the two countries, the minister said talking to Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of B&H Nedim Makarevic, who called on him.
Areas of mutual interest, bilateral ties, and cooperation in various fields came under discussion in the meeting.
The minister said that both B&H and Pakistan enjoyed close fraternal ties, which were deeply embedded in history, religion and tradition. He said there was great potential to enhance mutual cooperation, business ties and trade between the two countries.
He also emphasised the need to learn from each other’s experiences and adopt the best practices in the field of science and technology.
Nedim apprised the minister regarding progress made in various areas of co-operation between Pakistan and Bosnia. He stated that trade volume between the two countries was very low and there was great potential to increase trade in the areas of food items, textile and leather goods.
