Ousted Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi on Wednesday did not appear in court in Cairo due to bad weather conditions that prevented his departure from Burj al-Arab prison, officials said.
Morsi was expected to appear in court at the National Police Academy complex in Cairo early on Wednesday. Other defendants had already arrived at the police compound by helicopter but Morsi’s travel was hampered by the weather conditions.
Morsi, along with 14 associates of Muslim Brotherhood were accused to inciting killing of protestors outside the presidential palace in 2012.
He was removed by the army in July 2013 and remains under arrest in Alexandria.
