Shujaat wants exclusion of word ‘treason’ in Musharraf case

Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Monday said that word treason was being used wrongly in the Musharraf case.
Talking to reporters outside the Parliament House, he said that violator of the constitution could be used instead of traitor as an army chief could never be a traitor.
He said the word ‘traitor’ is used for those who join the enemies of the country.
Shujaat suggested that the word ‘traitor’ should be deleted from the constitution.
“If the government wants proceedings of the case against Pervez Musharraf then it should be started since October 12, 1999 instead of November 3, 2007,” the PML-Q chief said.
He said he had already presented his name and former chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry, former army chief Ashfaq Kayani and Pervez Elahi could also be summoned in the case.
The PML-Q chief said price hike in Pakistan was the biggest problem and he felt that the country was moving towards a class struggle.
