Pakistan’s ambassador designate to Indonesia Attiya Mahmood has said that lack of dedicated funds refrain Pakistani embassies to go for promotional and marketing activities of Pakistani goods and services as the embassies get limited amount of funds to overcome their administrative expenses only.
Speaking at a meeting during her visit to KCCI, Attiya Mahmood said the embassies could only facilitate those promotional activities which were either financed by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan or they were organised by trade associations like the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Lack of dedicated funds for trade promotional activities at the Pakistani embassies acted as one of the key hurdle in way of enhancing trade to various countries, she added.
KCCI President Abdullah Zaki, Vice President Muhammad Idrees, former vice president Nasir Chandana, managing committee members Zafar Saeed Baghpatee, Anis Haji Younus Arfa, Durre-e-Shahwar Nisar, Abdul Jabbar Dalal, Shehzad Mubeen, Advisor Banking and Insurance Sub Committee, Ateeq-ur-Rehman, and KCCI Secretary General SM H Rizvi were present at the meeting.
While highlighting her planned activities as Pakistan’s ambassador in Indonesia, Attiya Mahmood assured that all possible facilities and assistances would be provided to the Pakistani businessmen willing to expand their trade with Indonesian counterparts, whereas the embassy would be proactively playing its role in dispute resolution by taking up issues being faced by the Pakistani business community with local authorities in Indonesia.
She also stressed the need for enhancing person-to-person and business-to-business interactions between the two countries with a view to maximise the existing trade volume between the two countries.
