The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Altaf Hussain’s remarks on Sindh’s split echoed in Senate on Monday.
Speaking in the Senate, senior ANP leader Haji Adeel criticised the MQM chief for his remarks. “You were given land. You were also settled. How long will you keep making such demands?” he said.
Speaking on this occasion, Senator Ahmed Karim Khawaja of the PPP also lashed out at Altaf Hussain, saying Pakistan came into being through a resolution adopted by the Sindh Assembly.
“One man while sitting in London is calling for the partition of Sindh. The British high commissioner should take notice of Hussain’s statements,” he demanded.
The remarks angered the MQM’s senators, who staged a walkout from the upper house.
The Senate chairman said that the MQM should table an adjournment motion to initiate a debate on this issue. On this, MQM’s members walked out of the session.
