The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will shortly induct 18 new fuel efficient planes on lease for the improvement of its schedule and revenue.
This was stated by PIA Chairman Syed Muhammad Ali Gardezi in an inaugural ceremony of the new route in Multan on Saturday.
He inaugurated the new route of Jeddah to Multan in a ceremony in Multan where he said that PIA will soon insert 18 new aircrafts on lease in its fleet and with this new inclusion of planes, the monthly revenue of PIA will reach Rs 14 billion. Presently, PIA generates Rs 8 billion monthly.
This, as I understand, is a sure sign of PIA being privatizes. Buy these aircrafts at government expense before selling them at much reduced rates to a private party.
When will it happen is the question. We have been hearing for over a decade now with very little actual action. Airline needs twice that number today and quadruple that number for next year.
