Senate opp seeks ISPR explanation on Musharraf statement

Senate opposition parties on Friday demanded explanation from the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) over former president Musharraf’s assertion that he enjoyed the support of military.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) opposition senator Farhatullah Babar, Awami National Party’s (ANP) Haji Adeel and others expressed concern over Musharraf’s statement during session of the Senate on Friday.

PPP senator Farhatullah Babar said the ISPR should issue explanation over the matter.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Raja Zafarul Haq responded that the Defence Minister Khawaja Asif had earlier given an explanation on Musharraf’s statement and the ISPR was not obliged to respond to every statement.

ANP Senator Haji Adeel said the government was interested in other matters with regular foreign tours.

The matters related with political and security situation of the country were also discussed during the session.
