Pakistan’s foreign office on Friday rejected the ongoing speculations that the Saudi foreign minister’s visit is linked to the treason trial of former president Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf.
In a briefing on Friday, FO spokesperson Tasneem Aslam stated the Saudi Foreign Minister Saud al Faisal’s visit was scheduled earlier and that it’s part of routine communication.
She refuted all such claims that he is visiting Pakistan to play his role in Musharraf’s case.
She said that trial of the former dictator was Pakistan’s internal matter and no other country will be allowed to exert pressure.
Musharraf was due to appear in court on Thursday but fell sick on his way to the hearing and was shifted to a military operation where his treatment is underway.
The event led to speculations in media circles that the former ruler will be leaving Pakistan on excuse of his ailment as a part of a clandestine deal with the international players, including Saudi Arabia.
The Saudi minister’s visit was therefore being linked to the ongoing situation pertaining to Pervez Musharraf’s trial.
