A petition was filed on Friday in Islamabad High Court to bar former president Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf from travelling abroad to receive medical treatment, a private news channel reported.

The petition was filed by Haroon Rasheed, son of Lal Masjid cleric Ghazi Abdul Rasheed.

According to a spokesperson of the Lal Masjid Shuhada Foundation, Rasheed has pleaded the court to issue orders to the federal interior ministry for providing the former president best medical facilities available in Pakistan and bar Musharraf from exiting the country.

The petition also added that the former president has a number of criminal cases pending against him including the one related to the alleged murder of Rasheed Ghazi.

The petitioner has also sought to make the Federal interior ministry, interior secretary, Islamabad’s Inspecter General Police and the head of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) DIG Khalid Khattak parties to the case.

  1. Musharraf will never run away from legal battles. His name on ECL has to be temporarily removed to enable him to get medical treatment abroad. Surely. he would be back to fight off all legal cases against him. The reason is: a devoted soldier can never tolerate to be called a ghaddaaar.
