Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al Faisal will be visiting Pakistan on January 6 on a trip anticipated to convey a significant message to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from the Saudi rulers.
Sources in the Foreign Ministry confirmed the expected visit of the Saudi FM who will be discussing matters of foreign policy and national security with PM Sharif and his adviser Sartaj Aziz.
The talks are also expected to include matters on strengthening of bilateral ties between the two states, regional situation, withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan, as well as the US-Taliban dialogue for reconciliation in Afghanistan.
The coming meeting will be the first high-level contact between the two countries since Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz came into power.
Faisal’s visit is also being linked to the developments in treason case against former dictator Pervez Musharraf as sources say that the issue is likely to be discussed as well.
However, the Saudi embassy has denied such reports citing Musharraf’s case as an internal issue of Pakistan that would not be meddled in by Saudi Arabia.
