Pervez Musharraf’s Counsel Ahmed Raza Qasuri on Thursday said that his client is a national asset and his difficulties would soon be over.
Talking to media outside the special court, Qasuri said that Musharraf was well on his way to court but felt chest pain and was shifted to the military hospital in Rawalpindi.
Qasuri said that the former president has spent his entire life as a commando and he is not a man who would run away from difficulties. “If he had been a coward he would have never returned to the country,” he said.
He said that those doubting about Musharraf’s ill health should go to the hospital and see for themselves.
Talking about Chief Prosecutor Akram Sheikh, Qasuri said that he was creating complexity by behaving not like a prosecutor but a ‘persecutor’ and wants Musharraf to be sentenced at any cost as he is closely linked to Nawaz Sharif.
Earlier on Thursday, Musharraf left his heavily guarded farmhouse to appear in the court but complained of chest pain on his way to the hearing. His convoy was immediately diverted to Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology for medical examination.
Later on Thursday, the special court exempted Musharraf from Thursday’s hearing and adjourned the treason case trial till January 6.
