The Haqqani network, which closely works with the banned terrorist outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), has assured the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sami (JUI-S) to extend all possible cooperation for holding successful peace dialogue.
This was stated by Asim Mehmood, the central information secretary of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-S) when contacted to confirm the reports on Thursday.
Sources in the JUI-S said party chief Samiul Haq was in contact with some factions of the TTP, including the Haqqani network and militant leader Khalid Sarasani. On the other hand, JUI-S leader Shah Abdul Aziz was also in contact with some groups of the TTP.
The JUI-S spokesman claimed that his party leaders were going to hold meeting with the TTP leadership in next few days during which strategy of peace talks would be finalised.
Mehmood hoped that their contacts with various groups of the TTP would pave the way for peace talks which are not only the need of the hour but also the longstanding demand of the people.
