Five slain in Karachi on Thursday

Five people lost their lives in different violent incidents in the metropolitan on Thursday, according to a private news channel.

Earlier on Thursday, a joint operation by Rangers and police was carried out in Kunwari colony of Karachi’s Manghopir area in which two persons were killed in the ensuing crossfire between the suspected terrorists and security forces.

According to a Rangers spokesperson, those killed in the encounter were members of the banned outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The suspects offered resistance and opened fire when the raiding team reached the area.

In retaliatory firing by security forces, two suspects were killed while grenades, handguns and other weapons were also recovered from them.

The bodies were shifted to a hospital.

Meanwhile, in Rehri Goth area of Landhi, three bodies bearing marks of torture were recovered by the police.

The bodies have been identified as gang members who were killed by their rival gangsters, according to police sources.

  1. Reports suggest the hand grenade recovered from the railway track might actually have been thrown by the suicide bomber who blew himself a day prior (Monday) in front of the consulate.
