Two alleged dacoits were lynched to death by the infuriated mob in Orangi Town late yesterday (Monday), however, the bereaved family called it a reprisal against a former complain filed about a gambling den in the area.

Police said two alleged dacoits entered a shop for robbery in sector 11 ½ of Orangi town, however, they were captured and subjected to torture by the area residents.

Police reached the spot to control the situation but the angry people refused to hand over the dacoits. The accused were identified as 22-year-old Babar Ali and 17-year-old Bahadur Ali.

Meanwhile, the heirs of the deceased told a different story and claimed that the police portrayed Babar and Bahadur as dacoit and get them killed by the people. They said they had personal enmity with SHO Mominabad.

Babar’s brother and Bahadur’s father said that they requested SHO Mominabad to take action to abolish the gambling resort from the area, adding the incident is an act of victimisation that occurred on the heels of lodging the complaint.

The bereaved family demanded action against the police officer involved in the incident.

  1. very sad indeed but expected with the crooks in power and the national assembly full of bandits and murderers, only jungle law prevails.

  2. There are just two kinds of crooks in Pakistan. Those who don't wear a uniform and those in uniform. Pakistan should seriously consider abolishing police. The crime rate is certain to go down. Whatever the kind of crime it is committed by the police officials or committed in police patronage. There is one thing however police is very good at and that is extracting money from everyone, criminals, victims and citizens.
