Shia leader escapes attack, two killed

In an attack on a Shia leader in Karachi’s on Saturday night, at least two people were killed and one was injured, private news channels reported.

According to reports, unidentified men opened fire at the vehicle of Mirza Yousuf, a leader of Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM) in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, killing one of his personal guards and a police man and injuring an aide of the leader. The attackers fled the scene when the policemen deployed for the Yousuf’s security retaliated through gunfire.

Mirza Yousuf remained safe in the attack, the reports added.

MWM and Millat-i-Jafaria Pakistan have condemned the attack and demand immediate arrest of the attackers.

Shia Ulema Council gave a call for a country-wide protest against the sectarian attacks on Sunday.
