Musharraf files fresh petition seeking review of decision against emergency

Former president Pervez Musharraf has filed a fresh petition in the Supreme Court (SC) seeking review of 14-member court bench decision against proclamation of emergency by him.
The SC registrar office has accepted the petition which is likely to be fixed for hearing in the second week of January.
Zafar Abbas Naqvi and Shahjehan Khan counsel for Pervez Musharraf filed the review petition on Saturday.
The registrar office of SC had raised objection over it when it was filed earlier that improper language has been used therein and petitions like this have already been rejected. The third objection was that the petition did not bear the signatures of Sharif ud Din Pirzada.
The counsels of former president filed the petition again on Saturday after removing the objections. Notices have been issued to the parties concerned as per rules in connection with this review petition. .
Plea has been taken through this petition that a 14-member bench of SC headed by former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry had handed down verdict against imposition of November, 3, 2007 emergency by Pervez Musharraf. The decision was pronounced on July, 31, 2009.
It was further pleaded in the petition that Pervez Musharraf was not heard in the case. Allegations of bias have also been leveled against certain judges of SC through this petition.
